In hindsight, it may not have been that interesting, but I think it does reflect a divide, of sorts, between just what people enjoy and what people think has "merit" or is "art." Perhaps that could be described as the distinction between what is popular and what is literary, but it's curious, to me, that even Ranma fanfiction would exhibit that distinction.

I hadn't known tvtropes started as a Buffy site. I'll be the first to admit it has some subjectiveness issues and clutter, but since tvtropes introduced me to Ranma (I first really wanted to know about the series based on examples I saw on there, and my first real experience with the series was reading "The Bitter End" and then later watching some of anime and reading the manga), I like going there from time to time and being introduced to other new things, knowing that some representations require more than a few grains of salt.Muphridhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12215995791591027005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5154217550174079888.post-63659858643213907112010-09-07T15:41:06.491-04:002010-09-07T15:41:06.491-04:00Tvtropes kind of annoys me though I do find it'...Tvtropes kind of annoys me though I do find it's Ranma section to be more accurate than wikipedia. The main reason it annoys me is people put to much info often in attempt to push their view point. The Ranma section in particular has a lot of secondary information besides just pointing out that the trope applies to the series, more than any other section that I remember looking at which I find strange since Tvtropes started out as a Buffy the Vampire fan site and spread but the Buffy section is much less complex with more just showing that the trope applies without the extra information. I'm of the opinion that it should be list the trope list the example from the manga/games/anime and that is it don't list every example, don't justify the trope, don't put any extra details beyond how that trope fits the series, etc.

As for the fanfic recommendations that is very subjective with a lot of the fics I like not on that list (this applies to other fandoms I read as well).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
