Identity 04 finished

I can't say I did it on the schedule I'd have liked, but "Monsters and Demons" is finally finished, with a momentous ten-thousand word seventh act, "To Slay the Monsters within Our Souls." And that's after I split a good chunk of it to make up act six. I feel really good about this chapter and really good about having finished it. There's always that moment of catharsis, I guess, whether you're reading or writing, and I really feel like this last act is just incredibly powerful. I can't wait to put it up on FFN, but I'll stick to schedule. I know I probably need a break week or two to get myself back on pace to try finishing chapter five before I start posting it, but I really love this chapter and I really want to post it in order without stopping. Act three will be posted Friday. Act four on July 2nd, five on the 9th, six on the 16th, and seven, at last, on the 23rd, a little over a month from now.

I know I've felt, at times, that the popularity of Identity has been lacking, that perhaps the story I'm writing just lacks appeal and that perhaps I'm just disconnected from what readers want in fandom, but I can't remember feeling so great about a chapter's climax. Not even chapter one, which really, in my mind, had a lot of punch. Chapter four really feels like all the buildup has come to fruition, and I'm enjoying every minute of it. It's going to be tough to come off that and start chapter five, but hey, that's what a writer has to do.

See everyone Friday for "Black and Red."
